History

The town of Paglieta has very ancient origins, even before the formation of the Roman Empire. The first traces of the town as we know it today were found by historians in the XII century. Between the XVI and the XVII century the town became part of the Spanish territory, up to the beginning of the XVIII century when the Pignatelli family became owner of the territory for a long period of time.

In the main square of the town can be found the tower built in the Eighteenth century which can be considered the symbol of the town. The old part of the town today preserves different churches important reference points for who lives in the town.

The inhabitants of Paglieta have been really active in both World Wars having a lot of injured and unfortunately also deads, in a territory occupied by the German soldiers.
